In recent decades, the term "chemical imbalance" has become a familiar term that has become the preconceived notion of a brain disease that is directly responsible for depression and psychological disorders. Obviously, it would come to this conclusion without a little persuasion from the community psychiatric, drug companies or the media! But what exactly is a chemical imbalance and how to play a role in addictive behavior? First we will clarify that there is no test to diagnose the pathology of a chemical imbalance. So if you can not test it, how can he confirm there yet?
Finally, to be honest is purely hypothetical in nature! That's right! There is absolutely no clinical evidence supporting this theory, much less who is responsible for depression or substance abuse. The theory of imbalance chemical has been created in the sixties when a group of prominent psychiatrists conducted a research study using various psychoactive substances and hallucinogens such as LSD size. No conclusion is: The study confirmed that the drugs tested, in fact, alter the chemical balance and brain structure. Therefore, any abnormality in psychological and emotional behavior must be contributed to a chemical imbalance in the brain! For most visitors to this conclusion runs counter to common sense basic and common questions for the researchers themselves. Ironically, the fight against the use of antidepressants has tripled over the last two decades. Coincidence! You decide!
So how chemical imbalance in the brain play a role in addiction? Well, most patients drug treatment inpatient and outpatient use cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy exposing intoxicated person, and very often a chemical imbalance diagnosis. When a doctor diagnosed a patient with a chemical imbalance in my opinion, he or she reaches this conclusion by pure speculation, based In such a case. However, many people, including those suffering from addiction began immediately with a chemical imbalance diagnosis! It is no secret to anyone that most addicts suffer from depression, however, it is absurd to say that is caused by a chemical imbalance. The National Institute on Drug Abuse continues to advance the theory of the dependence of brain diseases in billions of dollars and provides hundreds of CT scans to demonstrate the effects of drugs on brain chemistry. No one can dispute the fact that drugs are hallucinogenic drugs, but (NIDA), was unable to present a single proof to demonstrate that there is a chemical imbalance is the root cause of addictive behavior of a person.
To my opinion, depression and addiction are directly related to the problems of self-esteem. These problems are spread over the control family dysfunction, violence, alcoholism and parental responsibilities in part-time. The experience taught me that dysfunctions are generally at the root of emotional pain which is responsible for addiction and depression. Therefore, the key to success addiction and depression is to get rid of the dysfunction that has caused and to restore self-esteem through empowerment.
